TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi is scheduled to inaugurate Esemka car assembly plant in Boyolali, Central Java, as stated in the invitation received by Tempo on Thursday afternoon, September 5.
The construction of the assembly plant spent an investment fund of Rp600 billion. It is built on a 115,000 square meter land with 12,500 square meter surface area. The factory, managed by PT Solo Manufaktur Kreasi, rents the property for 30 years.
The facilities in the factory include a showroom, vehicle assembly area, engine assembly area, engine testing area, vehicle testing, and inspection areas.
Esemka CEO Eddy Wirajaya says the fund was purely invested by national private parties. "No foreign party is involved. It's 100 percent Indonesia's investment," he said Jakarta, Tuesday, August 13, 2019.
He hopes Esemka car could be launched in the near future. "Hopefully, it will make its release this year will," he said. Eddy says the Esemka car uses components from local companies such as PT INKA and Pertamina.
