TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Asked about the two regional leaders who were just nabbed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo says he has no issues with it and encourages the arrest if the pieces of evidence suffice.
“There are no problems if they find enough evidence,” said Tjahjo in Jakarta on Thursday, September 4.
As of Monday night, September 2, two Mayors were arrested in KPK’s sting operation (OTT); they are Ahmad Yani and Suryadman.
Mayor of Muara Enim, Ahmad Yani, has been named a suspect by the KPK in a graft case involving the public works and housing agency after he received US$35,000 from a person who managed the region’s construction project.
Meanwhile, Bengkayang Mayor Suryadman allegedly accepted graft from five construction project contractors as a down payment. Minister Tjahjo thanked the anti-graft organization’s performance and the team working under the KPK.
