TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) set a target to build 14 electric vehicle charging stations in different locations in Jakarta. One of them will have an ultrafast charging capability.
The firm’s general manager M. Ikhsan Asaad said the construction of the charging station will cost up to Rp2 billion.
“Rp1-2 billion for ultrafast charging,” said Ikhsan in the 2019 Indonesia Electric Motor Show (IEMS), in Balai Kartini, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 4.
The ultrafast charging is claimed to be able to fully charge the EV’s battery within 20 minutes. Even though his firm only provide one unit, Ikhsan asserted that the electric car use will not be difficult.
“We will try [to build one] first because the investment is costly, but we’ll add more next year,” said Ikhsan.
Besides the ultrafast charging, the other three stations will have a fast-charging capability and 10 stations will have normal charging capability.
At present, Ikhsan said the PLN is proposing the permit on the construction of the electric vehicle charging stations across the capital to Jakarta Governor. “We are currently ask for Governor’s permission to build it in strategic locations in Jakarta, such as in Monas,” he said.
