TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Qatar Airways has announced that as of Monday, September 2, 2019, the airline would use Airbus A-350-900 aircraft for all routes flying from Jakarta to over 160 global destinations. Qatar Airways chose the fleet for Jakarta as it saw significant flight potential at the capital’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
Qatar Airways' Country Manager for Indonesia, Ajay Jacob, said the A350-900 would be the latest fleet joining the existing fleets that already served three flights each day from Jakarta-Doha, and Denpasar-Doha.
“We are excited to introduce the ultra-modern A350-900 to our Indonesian fleet. We surely hope that we can greet passengers traveling from and to Jakarta with these spectacular airplanes,” said Ajay in a press release on Monday.
Besides offering significantly-increased flight capacity, he said these latest aircraft of Qatar Airways were also necessary to meet the growing demands in Indonesia.
Moreover, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) predicted that Indonesia would rank fifth in the world’s air transport market by the year 2036.
The Airbus A350-900 is a modern plane that can accommodate a total of 283 seats within two cabins that are divided into 36 business-class seats and 247 economy seats. The plane’s technological prowess is said to be more fuel-efficient and environmentally-friendly compared to its predecessor.
