TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) is implementing a route engineering to its Corridor 1 of Blok M - Kota following the establishment of Jakarta Muharam Festival 2019 at Jalan M.H. Thamrin - Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Central Jakarta, from 2 p.m. to 12 p.m.
"We do that because some 20,000 people are expected to visit the Muharram Festival," said the company's operational director Prasetya Budi in the press release today, August 31.
Budi explains his office shortened the route from Blok M to Dukuh Atas where the bus takes a turn in front of BNI 46 building via Pejompongan to Jalan Sudirman, and head back to Blok M, South Jakarta.
Meanwhile, from Kota, Transjakarta bus serves the passengers only until Monas. "Bus will also not stop at Bank Indonesia, only until Tosari," he said, adding that services other than Corridor 1 are running normally.
In celebrating Islamic New Year, the Jakarta Muharam Festival at Jalan Thamrin will be held from 5 p.m. to 12 p.m. The event will be opened by people taking part in an electric torch-lit parade from Monas west gate to HI Roundabout. There will also be Islamic music performance which will be enlivened by musicians, such as Opick, Pasha, Wali, Kotak, Bimbo, Potret, Hijab Band, Fatin, Cassandra Band, Rendi Pandugo and Wika Salim.
