TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The activity of the people of Jayapura, Papua, on Saturday, August 31, has returned to normal following the rally that turned to riot on Thursday.
The people flocked the market and sellers have started to open their businesses. "Alhamdulillah, we can now work again even though vegetable supply from the farmers are limited," said Ningsih, one of the sellers at Hamadi Market, South Jayapura District, today, August 31.
Not only market but some stores have also opened their businesses while those that were affected by the riots have started to clean their stores from debris.
"We cannot open the store yet because the front side of the store is damaged and burnt," said Martha, one of the stores' attendants in Entrop area.
The business area in Entrop is one of the locations that was severely affected by the anarchistic acts of the masses. Dozens of stores were burned and being destroyed, including the vehicles parked in front of the shops.
