TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Concurrent to the ongoing worldwide movie trend, Gundala will almost certainly feature an end credit scene as the director of one of Indonesia’s series of superhero movies attested in the movie's press conference on Wednesday, August 28.
“Gundala is penetrating, let the imaginations of the audience go wild,” said Gundala director Joko Anwar at the press conference held at the Epicentrum XXI in Jakarta.
As the director, Joko Anwar will adapt the Indonesian superhero comic character created by Harya Suraminata and each of its details into the big screen as an elegant action movie where action sequences will not glorify violence and mimic its original comic.
This decision was made to make sure that Gundala will be able to be enjoyed by large demography since the movie is rated PG-13.
“The fight sequences mimic those in the comics and it will not be overly violent. Blood [splatters] will certainly not be visible thanks to dynamic camera angles. So it is safe for children,” said Joko Anwar.
The movie will also see the origin story of Sancaka gradually find his way to become Gundala, which is portrayed by actor Abimana Aryasatya. This movie marks Indonesia’s first original superhero character adapted into a movie that is released nationwide on Thursday, August 29, 2019.
