TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of MRT Jakarta passengers in August reportedly fell 13 percent compared to July caused by the major blackout on August 4.
“There's a 13-percent drop this month,” said MRT President Director William Sabandar at Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to him, there was an average of 80,018 passengers each day up to August 26, which amounts to a total of 2.08 million passengers while July’s total MRT passengers amounted to 2.88 million with an average of 93,165 passengers on a daily basis.
The PLN blackout caused the MRT to cancel 91 trips as the blackout happened during the day and lasted to the night at 20:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB). This situation reoccurred several days after the blackout.
He says that the number of MRT passengers improved on Friday, August 9. In a strategy to prevent similar incidents in the future, MRT and PLN have worked on a plan to prepare a third electricity subsystem.
