Police to Launch Smart Driver's License in September

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police's traffic unit will launch the smart driver's license (smart SIM) on September 22. The Traffic Police Chief Insp. Gen. Refdi Andri his institution will simplify the identity section in the new license.
"The license owner's blood type will also be put in the new license in order to quicken blood transfusion process when needed," the police said at Bidakara Hotel, South Jakarta, Tuesday, August 27.
In addition, the registration number in smart SIM will be valid for a lifetime. The police said the smart SIM will improve the security without changing the mechanism of the service and payment.
The owner can upgrade their old driving license to smart license when processing to extend the license period, while for those who want to create a new one, will automatically get smart SIM, Refdi explained.
The police added that the cost is similar to when processing the previous license but with more benefits.
