TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that he plans to transform the current Indonesian central government office buildings into green open spaces (RTH) after the capital city move is commenced.
“Hopefully with the capital city move there will be more green open spaces in areas of former central government headquarters,” said Anies today at Jakarta’s City Hall.
However, the governor maintained that he plans to keep using the transformed buildings as office areas to help run the city’s economy. He also mentioned that Jakarta has an extensive history which will always attract visitors despite not being the country’s capital.
“Jakarta will be a tourist center for Indonesia has a broad history,” said the governor who also believes the city’s economic improvement will continue to grow and attract investments.
Anies Baswedan’s urban regeneration program is already backed by the Central Government. The program plans to further improve transportation, housing, up to clean water supplies.
