TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Mohamad Nasir introduced Jang Youn Cho as Indonesia’s foreign rector who will lead the Asia Cyber University in Indonesia.
“The rector has experience in leading universities. He led the Hankuk University in South Korea and was once in the U.S. and is now the rector of the Asia Cyber University,” said Nasir in Denpasar, Monday, January 26.
The university he will be leading is a partnership between the Jakarta National University and South Korea’s Hankuk University of Foreign Studies which is claimed to be the country’s first online-based university.
The arrival of Jang Youn Cho, said Nasir, is hoped to improve the participation level and level of education to a level that is competitive in the international stage. “Do not think about it as colonialism. There’s no such thing in the education world since universities of the world would always collaborate with each other,” said the minister.
