Anies Baswedan, Ahok Meet at Jakarta Councilors Inauguration

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan met his predecessor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok today, August 26, during a plenary meeting on the inauguration of new Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) members at the DPRD building, Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta.
Anies was initially seen having a conversation with former deputy governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat, who was Ahok’s running mate in the last gubernatorial election, in the crowd of guests flocking the meeting hall.
A few minutes after, Ahok approached them. Ahok and Anies shook hands firmly and smiled at each other. There was no tension in the air during the meeting of the two politicians, who are known to have exchanged satiric blows against each other.
Anies and Ahok then engaged in talks while surrounded by guests and reporters taking their photographs.
During the short session, Anies and Ahok were seen smiling at each other. Shortly after that, they parted ways to congratulate the new city councilors.
