TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, in his inaugural speech of the day in the People's Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI) 2019 Annual Session, advises state institutions to completely set aside their egos.
The President maintains that this will enable Indonesia to be stronger as a nation.
“We cannot walk by ourselves anymore. The ego of state institutions must be demolished to make way to new things that can be created together,” said Jokowi in his speech at the MPR-DPR complex in Jakarta on Friday, August 16.
Other than that, he reminded state institutions to constantly do check and balance under one unified frame of view. He says this will solidify Indonesia as a nation and be frontrunners in the global competition.
“An Indonesia that is pleasant for its people who are prosperous and just, and who are respected by other nations of the world,” said the President.
Based on the official schedule, President Jokowi will deliver three speeches today with the first at the 2019 MPR RI Annual Session, the state speech commemorating the 74th Indonesian Independence Day at the House of Representatives (DPR) HQ, and the 2020 State Budget Plan speech.
