Police Chief Urged to Resign after 3 Police Burnt in Cianjur

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) requested the Cianjur Police Chief, Sr. Comsr. Soliyah to resign from his position due to failing to secure a students’ protest which resulted in three officers being burnt alive on Thursday, August 15.
“The police chief should resign as a moral responsibility,” says Kompolnas Commissioner Andre H. Pulungan on Thursday, August 15.
Andre also pushed for the West Java Police Department and the Indonesian National Police Main HQ (Mabes Polri) to conduct an immediate intervention.
“Four Cianjur Police unit leaders; the police chief, Kabagops (head of operations), control unit officers’ head (Kasat Sabhara), and the head of intelligence should be demanded responsibility,” Commissioner Andre H. maintained.
The three officers who were burnt in the protest are Second Brig. Aris Simbolon and Second Brig. Yudi from Cianjur Police’s Sabhara unit and First Adj. Insp. Erwin Yudha.
