TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - City-owned developer PT Jakpro, which has been appointed to organize the Formula E race, has yet to pinpoint the location where the international electric-powered formula series will likely be held in Jakarta on June 2020.
“As for the [road later to be turned as a] circuit is set to be determined this month,” says Dwi Wahyu Daryoto, PT Jakpro Director.
Dwi explained that the event's preparations have commenced in August to give organizers leeway upon preparing other elements needed to host the race weekend in Indonesia’s capital urban environment.
Based on the requests of the race series’ organizer, Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), Dwi suggests that his team should have a nearly-finished track layout two months prior to the race date as it would give way for the FIA to conduct tests.
“We are eyeing in March 2020 for the tests,” he said.
Infrastructure revitalizations such as the resurfacing of the city’s asphalt that meets Formula E standards will be done in November 2019. Jakpro has set a budget of Rp305 billion in the Jakarta Regional Budget (APBD) 2020 to fund the entire physical and non-physical preparations.
