TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo reportedly planned to announce the final location of the new capital city during a state speech on Friday, August 16. Responding to the issue, National Development Agency (Bappenas) head Bambang Brodjonegoro said he did not want to overtake what the President has decided.
Bambang called on media reporters to wait for the official announcement. “Just wait for the President’s speech tomorrow,” he said in Ombudsman Building, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 15.
The state speech is scheduled to be delivered on Friday before legislative members in the parliament building.
Previously, the President said in a press release issued by the Protocol, Press and Media Secretariat of the Presidential Office, Tuesday, July 30 that he will announce the location of the new capital city in August.
He claimed that he did not want to deliberately decide on the location, yet hoped it would be concluded as soon as possible.
As of date, Jokowi said, the government is still studying the related matters, starting from issues about the disaster mitigation, water, economy, demography, socio-politics, up to defense and security.
