TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Mass Rapid Transit or MRT Jakarta has teamed up with Seoul Metro to enhance knowledge regarding the urban railway’s operation development and maintenance.
MRT president director William Sabandar said that Seoul Metro is a South Korean train operator that is managing eight train networks with a length reaching 340 kilometers.
“We think it’s necessary to gain knowledge from their operational reliability, especially in light of the usage of big data technology for the station and train operation,” said William in a written statement, Thursday, August 15.
William shared hopes the cooperation would boost the competency in operating MRT. He added that the ties aims to explore the operational development, the management of the operation control center (OCC), the development of rolling stock and depot maintenance, the development of Smart Automatic Mechanical Big Data Analysis-system (SAMBA) and smart station, as well as the management of automatic fare collection (AFC).
“The memorandum of understanding will be valid for the next two years,” he said.
William mentioned that Seoul Metro had received an award of Operational and Technological Excellence from the Union Internationale des Transports Publics (UITP) for its project dubbed 'Introducing Observer Pattern-based system for failure prediction of railway facilities (SAMBA)'.
The agreement has been inked by MRT Jakarta director William and Seoul Metro Chief Executive Officer, Taeho Kim.
