Here are Events in Ancol Celebrating Indonesia's Independence Day

  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Taman Impian Jaya Ancol (Ancol Dreamland Park) is offering multiple public events to commemorate the Indonesian Independence Day (HUT RI) on August 17-18 dubbed as the “Pesta Manusia Merdeka” or Sovereign People’s Party.

    Sea World Ancol will hold its annual flag ceremony done underwater conducted by professional divers inside a 6-meter deep aquarium with young Indonesian singer Aaliyah Massaid partaking in the event as the flag holder.

    Jawara dan Elektro fun Drama Dufan

    Meanwhile, Dufan or (Fantasy Land Park) is set to present a musical drama to commemorate the Indonesian independence entitled “Jawara”, which retells the story of Indonesians, mainly Betawi, in fending off invaders. This will be held at the Hysteria Stage at 18:30 on weekends and 14:00 during weekdays.

    Atlantis Water Adventures and Allianz Ecopark ‘Panjat Pinang’

    Atlantis Water Adventures will be hosting multiple competitions such as the ‘Pinang’ slippery pole climbing and the competition to eat large 50-centimeter crackers (krupuk). Traditional independence day competitions will also be held at the Allianz Ecopark.

    Other events set to be held to commemorate the Indonesian independence day will also be held at the Carnaval Beach, which will also see multiple concerts being held on August 17, Saturday, featuring numerous known singers while ‘Superman is Dead’ will perform on the following day on Sunday. The Ancol Beach City Mall will also be hosting the 9th Jakarta Melayu Festival on Saturday while the Ancol Art Market (Pasar Seni Ancol) will see multiple events and art performances on Saturday.
