TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Tangerang City administration planned to build a waterway in Cisadane River as alternate public transportation. The project has been listed in the Regional Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD) of 2018-2023.
Tangerang Mayor Arief R Wismansyah said on Monday, August 12, that his administration is currently finalizing the plan as an effort to curb congestion from Serpong to Tangerang City.
“The plan of the waterway construction in Tangerang City has been noted in RPJMD 2018-2023,” said Arief.
According to Arief, the city will provide vessels as a means of public transportation to serve passengers from city borders to the downtown of Tangerang. “We will set several stop docks, such as Serpong Dock located behind Lippo that heading to Panunggangan Barat and in Cikokol Grand Mosque,” he said.
The Mayor went on to say that people can later board water transportation via the river to Jakarta. The waterway project is also expected to attract tourists arrivals to Tangerang City.
Arief claimed that Banten provincial administration agreed on the planned project of Cisadane Waterway. Therefore, the administration will raise the height of several bridges for the boats to pass.
“We have conducted a study and asked for permission to Banten Province. Initially, we face difficulties because of bridges belonged to the province, but a few days ago, Banten is willing to raise the bridge height,” Arief concluded.
