TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Monday received the visit of Bukalapak CEO Achmad Zaky at the ministry headquarters. The moment where the two met was captured in the minister’s Instagram account @smindrawati.
According to her, the meeting mostly saw both parties discuss Indonesia's business industry and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
“Among many things we talked about, we discussed how Bukalapak can better empower SMEs, such as the ease of taxpaying services in the e-commerce platform and also about research,” as the caption read.
This meeting opens the possibility of opening a communication between stakeholders and regulators, which is why she urges both parties to synergize.
The Minister also does not deny the fact that Ecommerce such as Bukalapak is a new phenomenon in the business world and is arguably seen as a bridge between sectors such as the industry to the education industry.
Sri Mulyani also took the opportunity to congratulate Bukalapak in obtaining the valuation of a “Unicorn.”
“Bukalapak is one of Indonesia’s unicorn pride that was built and developed by Indonesia’s young generation,” she said.
