  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Marine and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti was furious about the comments made by Twitter account @faizalassegaf in a number of media outlets. The Minister, who is known by her famous quote "Tenggelamkan!" (Sink it!) lashes out against the account by attaching a Tempo news report from five years ago.

"READ it completely until finished!!!! Before accusing someone deliberately!!!!," Minister Susi wrote on her Twitter account @susipudjiastuti while uploading a news report on Sunday August 11, 2019.

The report titled "Menteri Susi Ternyata Pernah Jadi Buronan Polisi" was posted five years ago on November 11, 2014. Minister Susi's tweets was intended to respond to the @faizalassegaf avvount which accuses her as a pirate queen for her record of being wanted by the police.

In the past report, Susi said that he was once 'hunted' by police officer in Sumatera Utara for carrying 5 tons of subsidized diesel from Medan to Simeuleu, Aceh. The Minister told the story when meeting a number of fishery businesses at her office.

However, Susi explained that at that time, she has no intention to smuggle subsidized diesel that was intended for fishermen. "Instead I gave the diesel to fishermen in Simeuleu, because it is hard to get [diesel] there," the Minister said.

In addition to fishermen, Susi said that the diesel was used to power electric generators "So the local residents can have electricity," Susi stated. Back then, Susi was still working as the Director of Susi Air.

Susi also said that subsidized fuel is the root of troubles. Because, she argued that subsidized fuel is often enjoyed by foreign ships. "Even there are government ships who sold its diesel in the middle of the sea, that is why they seldom go on patrol," she explicitly said.
