KPK Detains House Member I Nyoman Dhamantra over Bribery

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained a member of the House of Representative (DPR) Commission VI, I Nyoman Dhamantra, on charges of bribery related to the permit of garlic imports in 2019. The PDIP politician is confined with five other suspects.
“The detention will be carried out for the next 20 days,” said the commission spokesperson Febri Diansyah in Jakarta, Friday, August 9.
The anti-graft body has also named 5 people suspects. Two of them are Dhamantra’s aide Mirawati Basri and a businessperson Elviyanto as the bribe recipient, besides Dhamantra.
The other three suspected as the briber are businessmen, namely Chandry Suanda a.k.a. Afung, Doddy Wahyudi, and Zulfikar.
In this case, Dhamantra is suspected to have received Rp3.6 billion and a compensation fee of Rp1,700-Rp1,800 for each kilogram of imported garlic through Mirawati to manage the import permit for a Chandry’s company PT CSA.
Previously, the KPK caught red-handed eleven people during a sting operation (OTT) held in Jakarta, Wednesday evening, August 7. The team confiscated a receipt of a transfer of Rp2 billion and money in US dollar currency.
