TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The state-run electricity firm PLN announced that it will expedite the distribution of the compensation for the 30-hours-long blackout that occurred in Jakarta, Banten, and West Java. Based on the corporate’s data, the payment will reach Rp865.22 billion for some 22 million customers.
The Senior Executive Vice President, Yuddy Setyo Wicaksono, explained the compensation for such dissatisfying service usually required a long time for the calculation. For example, if there is an incident in August, the payment will be delivered in October.
However, the Java power outage last Sunday is considered an exception as the corporate had obtained the number of affected customers.
“The incident occurred in August, so normally, the compensation payment will take place in October. But we quicken it to September because we have had August data already,” said Yuddy to Bisnis, Wednesday, August 7.
Previously, the acting president director of PLN, Sripeni Inten Cahyani, said that Rp839.88 billion would be prepared to compensate almost 22 million customers, but the figure is increased to Rp865.22 billion following the number hike of affected customers to over 22 million.
