Anies Baswedan Wants to Install Solar Panel in City's Buildings

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the major power outage, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan is eyeing to install solar panels in all the city administration buildings as an alternate electricity source by 2022.
“[We have set a target that] all buildings of the provincial administration will have a solar power panel in 2022,” said Anies in Monas Field, Wednesday, August 7.
Anies explained the similar program for school buildings has been commenced since 2018. As of date, he added, many schools have used the power panel.
According to him, such a back-up power source is necessary as a solution of the hours-long blackout as occurred on Sunday, August 4.
“After the last power outage, we realize the need for electricity generators powered by solar energy. Imagine if the panel has been used massively yesterday, there might be no problem,” said the governor.
Anies Baswedan mentioned than the solar panel program has been noted in the gubernatorial Instruction No. 66/2019 concerning the city’s air control.
