TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi expected to start a trial run of the light rail transit (LRT) of Jakarta-Bogor-Depok-Bekasi or LRT Jabodebek of Cawang-Cibubur in October 2019 as the construction project has completed.
“The train is ready in Inka and will be brought here for a trial test because it requires at least 6 months,” said Budi in the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs office, Jakarta, Monday, August 5.
According to Budi, the operation of the urban transportation required a quite intensive trial test, not to mention the one in Palembang that underwent a one-year-long test.
Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan seconded Budi’s statement. The trial run of LRT connecting Cibubur and Cawang would kick off in October for six months ahead to meet the operation target.
“[The operation of] LRT is indeed postponed for almost a year due to land clearance. But all of the problems will be solved this August. We hope there is no more delay,” Luhut said.
Previously, Agrarian and Spatial Planning Minister Sofyan Djalil announced that the government targeted to complete the LRT Jabodebek project and start the operation in 2021.
