BNPB Records 4 Casualties in Banten Earthquake

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) recorded four casualties from the earthquake that hit Pandeglang, Banten, on Friday, August 2, at 19:03.

"Four people died and four are injured," said BNPB head of information center Agus Wibowo at his office in East Jakarta today, August 3.

Agus also explained that the quake also damaged 223 buildings, four houses of worships, a village office building, and two educational facilities.

On August 2, a magnitude 7.4 quake hit Pandeglang, Banten, before it was revised to magnitude 6.9. The tremors were felt in Java from Jakarta to East Java. 

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) previously issued a tsunami early warning with a potential height of 0.5 to 3.0 meters in Banten and Lampung following the quake. The early warning of the potential tsunami was revoked at 21:41.
