Minister Luhut Announces U.S. - Indonesia Bilateral Partnership

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan announced that the United States agreed to a partnership with Indonesia in improving the quality of human resources.
This was announced after the U.S. - Indonesia Partnership Luncheon entitled 'Expanding Our Bilateral Trade and Investment'.
“One of the planned partnerships is the improvement of education to elevate the quality of human resources,” said Luhut in a written statement on Thursday, August 1, adding that it will be applied in the higher-education institutions.
Another partnership included the improvement of the armed forces' professionalism which will enable both countries to hold a joint military drill. Besides, a partnership in the field of disaster mitigations was also set in the plan.
The visit from U.S. congressman Vern Buchanan, according to Minister Luhut, is also to commemorate the 70th anniversary of bilateral partnership between the two countries. Those present in the event were Congressman David Price, Congressman Vern Buchanan, and United States Ambassador to Indonesia, Joseph Donovan.
