TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati expected the Health Care and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) improve all of its aspects to curb potential deficit that has amounted to Rp28 trillion this year.
According to the minister, the improvement measures could be taken from the registration issue. "And the relationship with regional administration related to the bill management and policy on the assurance benefits as well," said Sri in the Energy Building, Jakarta, July 31.
Therefore, BPJS Kesehatan must conduct a discussion with the Health Ministry and the Finance Ministry to evaluate its system in light of the role of regional administration in the management of the national health assurance system.
Previously, Vice President Jusuf Kalla said that the government agreed to raise the premium for BPJS Kesehatan during a meeting at the State Palace on Tuesday, July 29.
The VP explained that the premium hike would be applied to suppress the deficit which the agency had been dealt with over the last few years.
Besides, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo agreed that the government would give autonomies over BPJS Kesehatan to regional governments.
