TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) Ministry’s Internet Content Control Directorate of Informatics Application Control, Anthonius Malau said the ministry has coordinated its efforts with online gaming app Hago following the child pornography scandal.
The government made several requests that will prevent any similar situation from happening again in the future.
“The app now cannot automatically request a person’s phone number and is blocked by Hago’s gaming system. And they have blocked the feature to send images,” said Anthonius at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters on Monday.
Hago comes from the same company as the live streaming app Bigo. He says that the government’s requests were enacted since July 27th.
In an attempt to eradicate online pornography, Anthonius claims that the Kominfo had blocked one million websites up to June of 2019m with a daily average of 10,000-15,000 websites containing contents of pornography each day.
Previously, police arrested AAP (27) for offenses in pornography after he was reported by the parents of RAP (9) on June 27, who was forced into having a video call sex (VCS) by the suspect. AAP would often dupe his victims to participate in lewd behaviors and record them without the victims noticing they were being recorded and use the recording as blackmail.
