30 Hotspots Spotted in Jambi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of Sultan Thaha Jambi noted there were 30 hotspots captured by the satellite imagery of Tera & Aqua and Suomi NPP on Tuesday, July 30. This is an increase compared to Monday's number of hotspots.
As of 05:00 local time, the hotspots were seen on, among others, 19 locations at the Kumpeh Ulu district of Muaro Jambi Regency.
Tanjungjabung Timur (Tanjabtim) and Tanjungjabung Barat (Tanjabar) Regencies are those with the most hotspots among other regencies in Jambi Province.
Hotspots were also spotted in other provinces of Sumatera including Riau (60), Bangka Belitung (16), and Lampung (8).
The Commander of the Forest and Land Fire Task Force, Col. Arh Elphis Rudy, said that landfires in the two regencies mostly hit peatlands. He said that the task force has prepared their men to anticipate fire.
