Police Foil Major College Drug Syndicate in Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police managed to foil a drug syndicate that operates in campus environments across Jakarta that consist of five people, consisting of two active college students and three dropouts.
“Up until this morning we managed to arrest five people operating as a drug trafficking syndicate,” said West Jakarta’s Metro Police Chief Adj. Grand Commissioner Erick Frendriz on Monday.
According to him, the syndicate would distribute marijuana within the campus that they go to located at Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta. He says that it has happened for the past two years, and according to the police, two of the suspects were just about to disburse 80 kilograms of cannabis just last week alone prior to their arrest.
From their entire supply of the illegal substance, the syndicate managed to distribute across Jakarta campuses, police initially confiscated just 11 kilograms of the marijuana from a campus room where two of the suspects study.
The suspects now face charges from 20 years of incarceration up to life behind bars.
