Madrasah Teacher Arrested for Molesting Student

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A male teacher of a madrasah (Islamic school) in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, was arrested by the police after harassing his 10-year-old student.
In a police press conference on Friday, July 26, 2019, the teacher was identified by police as Djunaidi (53), who was the school's P.E. teacher.
"The incident actually happened two months ago but was only revealed on July 23, during the national children's day," said Grand Commissioner Budhi Herdi Susianto, North Jakarta Police Chief during the press conference.
The victim recalled her harrowing experience to her parents after she initially refused to go to school. Djunaidi is said to have repeated his crime for a total of six times.
Police say Djunaidi confessed his crimes and explained that he molested his young student in class after he sent his entire male students out of class to do P.E. The female students would then spend the entire class indoors for what the teacher calls a 'non-outdoor session.'
Djunaidi is known to be a temperamental teacher, which caused his students to follow his orders. He now faces charges for his crime under Child Protection Law Article 85 and 15 years imprisonment.
Police announced it will conduct further investigation to reveal whether he molested more than one female student.
