TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The deputy chairman of National Mandate Party (PAN), Bara Hasibuan, claimed his party is willing to join the government coalition of Joko Widodo or Jokowi - Ma’ruf Amin without any demand.
“PAN wants to join without any condition because we respect Jokowi - Ma’ruf as the victor of 2019 presidential election. They get a mandate from the people who consider them better to lead Indonesia for the next five years,” said bara in Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 23.
He asserted that Indonesia implements a presidential system of government, so the president has a prerogative right to form a cabinet and tap people in ministerial seats to assist him.
Therefore, he opined, it will be the right of the president-elect whether he allows other political parties to join the government in a bid to gain more power or figures out it is not necessary to have more party in the coalition.
“So we are aware of the fact, and we don’t propose a condition. The idea about 55-45 power-sharing opposes the presidential system,” he added.
According to him, the power-sharing idea was echoed by a certain group, while the coalition of Prabowo - Sandiaga had been dismissed. PAN, he went on, truly determine to be an insider in a bid to help the government of Jokowi - Ma’ruf.
