TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has claimed the country's development is already on the right path to creating quality economic growth. Thus, the present problem is not about the direction of the development, but rather its speed, according to Sri.
"The problem is more to the quality, rather than the direction. So, if there is anybody wanting it to be speedier, the government wants it even more speedier," Sri said after attending a meeting with the House Budgetary Board at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Monday, July 22, 2019.
According to Sri, it is evident that the country's development is leading to quality economic growth, as pinpointed by several indicators--among them better unemployment rate, poverty rate, and the Human Development Index (HDI).
Sri, however, admitted there were some lingering impediments that kept the development from keeping up the pace. She said one of them was the export performance that had yet to hit maximum due to external issues. On the other side, the production sector has reached the output gap of virtually 0 percent.
"So, we need to increase the capacity," Sri Mulyani said.
