TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the resolved legal row between Garuda Indonesia’s employee union (Sekarga) and Youtube content creator Rius Vernandes, the flag carrier’s CEO I Gusti Ngurah Askhara Danadiputra gifted Rius with a first-class ride.
However, this came with a specific term from the CEO, where Askhara Danadiputra wants the reviewer to be brutally honest with his review.
“We ask Rius to review each element in the aviation, not just the business class, but also the first-class and economy. I will give Rius a free first-class ticket but I will only accept negative reviews from him, not the good bits that we all know,” said the Garuda CEO to Rius.
Askhara also invited Rius to pay a visit to the carrier’s entire facilities such as the Garuda Maintenance Facilities (GMF), Catering, and Garuda Indonesia Training Center (GITC).
“Rius may also see our cabin crews because our crews are attractive with their kebaya (traditional Indonesian blouse),” Askhara chuckled.
The invitation from Garuda’s boss also applies to every vlogger who reviews commercial flights. He said that it would be the gateway for criticism he thinks the company densely needs. “We feel we still have many shortcomings, we urge for everyone to help [develop] and better-communicate with us,” he said.
Sekarga initially reported Rius to the police for doing an ‘expose’ without confirming the issue first with Garuda managements. The issue he refers to is the handwritten menu handed by flight attendants in one of their business-class flights Rius was aboard and posted online.
