  • TEMPO.CO, JakartaGaruda Indonesia aircraft with flight number GA 1114 that was transporting hajj pilgrims had to detour back to Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar on July 17. The plane diverted back to base as it experienced a hydraulic leak.

"The plane departed according to schedule at 19:05. After flying 2.5 hours, it turned around to base because of a hydraulic leak," Garuda VP corporate secretary M Ikhsan Rosan said in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 17.

Ikhsan said the plane returned to Makassar around 00:30. The passengers were flown to Medina at 06:00 onboard the plane used to fly the previous group.

Head of the Madinah Working Area for the Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH), Akhmad Jauhari, confirmed there was a flight delay, which caused the late arrival of hajj pilgrims from Indonesia.

The delay affected the hajj committee's work, particularly in preparing accommodation and food for the group.
