Garuda Should be Open to Criticism, Says PSI Spokesman

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) responded to the viral circular of Garuda Indonesia’s policy which barred its passengers from taking photographs or video recordings in-flight.
PSI spokesman Sigit Widodo asked for the national flag-carrier to avert from being anti-criticism and deemed the content documented by Youtube content creators as a fact.
“It’s weird to see someone being charged for revealing a fact to the public in this digital age,” said Sigit in a written statement on Wednesday, July 17. “Garuda should have thanked Rius instead.”
The case he mentioned is the recent row between Garuda and Rius Vernandes who uploaded an Instagram story content of Garuda’s handwritten menu during a business class flight. His upload quickly went viral.
“Despite changing the ban to a public appeal, their actions show that Garuda intends to close itself away from criticism,” said Sigit.
