TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In between paddle boating at Minggo Island, Anambas Islands, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti wants regional administrations to create laws that enable people to understand the effects of plastic wastes.
“People’s awareness, the introduction of regional laws must be encouraged by the government. This is to help people better understand the implications of plastic waste,” said Susi on Tuesday.
She further asserts that issues regarding plastic wastes are a nationwide problem that is not just limited to several islands.
Susi Pudjiastuti also argues that a regional law will better help depict the depth of the issue to a large number of people, especially those that visit the thousands of Indonesian beaches. The minister continued to paddle with her child after expressing her views.
