Grab Tweets `Selfie Circular` Following Garuda`s Viral Circular

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A circular issued by flag-carrier Garuda Indonesia recently went viral which instructs cabin crew to prohibit passengers from taking photos or videos mid-air. Following that, Grab Indonesia’s twitter account posted a tongue-in-cheek circular of their own.

Grab tweeted a picture on Tuesday of a circular letter explaining several rules that need to be followed by their drivers and customers alike, which is clearly made with entertainment value in mind as the second instruction stated:

“You are advised against any conducting documentation while riding a GrabBike, especially if you ask your driver to record a Tik Tok video with you,” said the second instruction in the circular.

As if to make it clear that Grab’s circular is not meant to be taken seriously, the bottom right of the circular had handwriting that was made to resemble a motorcycle and beneath it that said: “signed by Grab’s Twitter admin that has yet received a pay raise.”

The tweet has garnered more than 13,000 likes and retweets, and thousands of replies. Youtuber Rius Vernandes who is being sued by Garuda shared Grab’s tweet and said that it had completely ‘made his day.’

Tempo asked Grab Indonesia Public Relation Manager Andre Sebastian, who acknowledged that the tweet is the work of the company’s social media team that often taps into moments that are “happening.”
