Police Still Study Eligibility of FPI Permit Extension

16 July 2019 21:10 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police are still examining the eligibility of permit extension of Islamic Defenders Front (FPI). Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo said the study by intelligence team is still afoot.

Dedi stopped short to detail when the analysis will complete. “There is no answer yet because it’s conducted by intelligence,” he said in his office, South Jakarta, Tuesday, July 16.

According to Dedi, his side would present the analysis result to the Home Affairs Ministry (Kemendagri) as soon as possible. But he was reluctant to explain the aspects they will analyze in considering the permit extension feasibility.

"Just wait for the analysis. We will hand it to Kemendagri," Dedi said.

As previously reported, the organization permit had expired. But the ministry has yet to decide the permit extension, pending on the police authority consideration.

The Home Affairs ministry had earlier demanded the Islamic organization to fulfill ten out of twenty required documents for the permit extension.

FPI spokesperson Munarman said his side is still preparing the required documents. “On progress,” he said via a short message, Saturday, July 13.
