TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police said political hoaxes were still massive in the public following the meeting of Jokowi and Prabowo on July 13.
Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo mentioned posts containing provocative issues were still circulating on Twitter.
“There are many hashtags that call for disagreement on the event that eased the national tensions,” said Dedi in his office, South Jakarta, Monday, July 15.
Other than Twitter, the police also detected provocative contents on YouTube and Facebook. The police's cyber team, he added, had figured out the narrative patterns designed for every videos or photos that were teeming with with false information. The narration of intolerance, polarization, disruption remained the favorite subjects.
“We have noted their digital records. We have memorized their patterns, there are photos, videos added with stories. This is constantly rising,” Dedi said.
He went on to say that the police were currently investigating hoax spreaders on those three social media platforms. If the contents are proven to have violated the law on electronic information and transactions or the ITE Law, the police will take stern action against the account owners.
