Gov't Develops Tourist Village Homestay in 10 New Bali

  • TEMPO.CO, JakartaTourism Ministry along with PT Sarana Multigriya Finansial (SMF) generated financing scheme for the development of homestays and tourist villages in the government’s designated priority destinations or 10 New Bali.

    The destinations include Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Tanjung Kelayang in Bangka Belitung Islands, Tanjung Lesung in Banten, Thousand Islands in Jakarta, Borobudur in Central Java, Bromo Tengger Semeru in East Java, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara, Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, Wakatobi in Southeast Sulawesi, and Morotai in North Maluku.

    The ministry’s deputy for tourist destinations development, Hengky Manurung, explained the state-owned enterprise would provide the financial to villagers in the area through local distribution agency.

    The SMF will collaborate with Tourist Village Homestay Development Acceleration team of the Tourism Ministry to provide assistance for the distributor agency. “This is necessary to increase the ability and contribution of locals,” Hengky said.

    Meanwhile, Director of Risk Management of SMF Trisnadi Yulrisman said that homestay financing program aimed at helping villagers build or renovate their houses to be rented by tourists. Thus, the program would create new employment as well as boost the tourism sector in the region.
