TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Maj. Gen. (Retired) Kivlan Zen reported a number of police higher-ups to the Police’s Internal Affairs Division (Propam) over spreading testimony video of suspects who planned to assassinate several national figures.
Kivlan’s lawyer, Tonin Tachta Singarimbun, filed the report on June 17 against National Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Mohammad Iqbal, general crimes deputy director Adj. Sr. Comr. Ade Ary, and comr. Pratomo Widodo.
Tonin explained the three police elites exposed a video of Iwan Kurniawan testifying that he was ordered by Kivlan’s to murder some figures. While Tonin claimed the suspect’s statement was defamation.
“That’s false news. The police should not be like that. If it’s an assassination attempt, do they ever construct it? Which store to buy firearms? What evidence to prove the order? This is defamation,” said Tonin to Tempo, Monday, July 8.
He went on to say that his side would probably report National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian, Information Bureau Head Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo, and Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono.
Kivlan Zen was also suspected for spreading hoax information and treason at the end of May 2019. He is detained in Guntur Prison. A detention suspension requested by him through Lawyer Tonin was rejected by the police.
