TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo pushed his cabinet ministers to accelerate licensing for export-oriented industries.
“In terms of investments, maybe I have mentioned it numerous times, export-related investments, that are related to import substitution must be given permits as soon as possible. But the reality in the field isn’t like that,” said Jokowi in a plenary cabinet meeting held at the Bogor Palace on Monday.
The cabinet meeting was attended by Vice President Jusuf Kalla along with a number of coordinating ministers from Jokowi’s “Working Cabinet.”
The president gave one example, which was highlighted by VP Jusuf Kalla in the meeting, regarding the necessary development of petrochemical industries that had stopped for over a year because of issues regarding land availability.

He also mentioned his recent visit to Manado, North Sulawesi on July 4-July 5, 2019, where he discovered that there were hotel permits that were hindered by spatial affairs.
“Elements related to spatial issues should be handled by the National Land Agency (BPN) minister through agreements, which is what should be done,” said Jokowi.
Jokowi also asked state ministers to avoid being entangled in daily routines, but rather face and overcome real problems.
