  • TEMPO.CO, Bogor - Bogor Police’s Traffic Unit chief Adj. Comr. Muhammad Fadli Amri demanded the public to no longer pass Puncak route and take alternative roads to reach the Puncak area, Bogor.

“Alternative routes include Cibubur-Cileungsi-Jonggol-Cariu-Cikalong-Cianjur,” said Fadli when asked for confirmation on Monday, July 8.

Fadli made the call after the route was severely congested for a whole day on Saturday, July 6. “Vehicles line-up reached 10 kilometers longer than the usual congestion up to 5 kilometers from Ciawi toll gate,” he added.

Fadli explained the heavy density caused by the closure of several lanes in Jakarta - Cikampek toll road due to toll maintenance. So, many vehicles from and to Bandung passed the route in order to avert Cikampek.

The congestion increased following the hike number of tourists vehicles heading to the Puncak area. “We have approached many strategies to reduce density, but the number of vehicles kept soaring,” Fadli said.

Despite many personnel had been dispatched in a few points, he went on, vehicles still lined up until the late hours, so it took quite a long time to implement one-way traffic policy.

“Therefore, we always appeal to the public willing to pass Puncak route to first see the traffic condition on Google Maps, or our announcement on Twitter,” he underlined.
