TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has allowed Baiq Nuril to apply for amnesty. The Supreme Court (MA) earlier rejected her appeal for a case review (PK) on the violation of the electronic information and transactions (ITE) Law.
“She may (request an amnesty), as soon as possible,” said the president at Sam Ratulangi Airbase, Manado, North Sulawesi, Friday, July 5.
Baiq Nuril, a staffer of SMAN 7 Mataram High School, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment and a fine of Rp500 million for violating Article 27 (1) of ITE Law after she was found guilty of spreading "immoral content", revealing the headmaster`s verbal sexual harassment against Baiq.

“I don’t want to comment on MA's ruling, because it’s the judicative domain. If I later receive [the pardon request], then it’ll be under my authority,” the president remarked.
Jokowi said if Baiq Nuril applied for amnesty, he would discuss it with the Law and Human Rights Minister, the Attorney General, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs in advance.
“To determine the case; amnesty or others. But my concern on this case since the beginning doesn’t drop. Once more, we have to respect any decision made by the court. That’s not the executive area,” he concluded.
