TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - AirAsia Indonesia will bring four more Airbus A320 airplanes until the end of 2019, to operate new upcoming domestic flight routes.
“We will launch new flight routes once the airplanes arrive,” said Air Asia Indonesia President Director Dendy Kurniawan on Thursday, July 4, during the “Flying High” book launch, authored by the CEO.
The new A320s will add the air carriers’ airplanes to a total of 29 by the end of this year. “We plan on taking five this year, one was already delivered, so that leaves four more which is being processed,” said Dendy.
Earlier, the low-cost carrier launched five new routes in conjunction with the bigger support from the government and the additional Airbus unit. Dendy promised that the new domestic routes the carrier is set to introduce will reach Indonesia’s eastern regions.
He explained that the various domestic routes are being filed to the Transportation Ministry for due process. The additional fleet added with new domestic routes is hoped to increase the number of passengers two-folds.
