Opposition Figure Clarifies Photo with President-elect Jokowi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party’s communication board Andre Rosiade asserts that he has not betrayed his position as opposition and maintains that the viral image of him posing with president-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is intentionally made viral as a means to frame him.
Andre confirmed that the image was taken at the time the presidential debates were on.
“That is an old photo during the fourth presidential debate at Hotel Shangrilla,” said Andre in a text message to Tempo on Thursday, July 4.
Moreover, Andre suspects that the image was deliberately shared online by a number of Prabowo Subianto supporters or 'buzzers'. The caption accompanying the image accuses Andre of being an opportunist following Jokowi’s re-election.
He then firmly stated that his support for Gerindra chairman and former presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto will not change.
“I never aimed for any position [in the government] whatsoever. I will remain true together with Pak Prabowo,” said Andre, who maintains that he must continue his path as a constructive opposition.
