TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2019 Art Jakarta to be held on August 30-September 1, 2019, in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), will display artworks of Asia’s prominent artists and 70 art galleries from domestic and abroad.
The gallery director Tom Tandio and artistic director Enin Supriyanto collaborated with a graphic designer Henricus Lingga Widjaja from a design studio Artnivora and a photographer Indra Leonardi from The Leonardi as the design director and photography director, respectively.
Enin explained the 2019 Art Jakarta would introduce its new identity as the art fair to define the capital as the center of contemporary art in Asia. “We make a change as one of our ways to represent our commitment to building a base for local and international art communities to interact,” he remarked.
He believed such a developing ecosystem would establish Indonesia, Jakarta, as an assembly point of Southeast Asia’s artists as the country had many committed artists and art collectors to support the ecosystem.
Tom Tandio, meanwhile, predicted the higher number of visitors in this year’s event than that of last year would become a good indication. “That means, the world’s art fairs put trust in Art Jakarta implementation,” he said.
In addition to the art fair, Art Jakarta Spot would present seven art installations by well-known artists across the site, viz. Eko Nugroho (ARARIO Gallery), TeamLab Tokyo (Gajah Gallery), Cheuk Wing Nam (OVO Gallery, Taipei), Albert Yonathan (Mizuma Gallery), Ronald Ventura (Yavuz Gallery), Syaiful ‘Tepu’ Garibaldi (ROH Project), and a Korean artist from Column Gallery.
