TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Gerindra Party threatened to take legal action against the people responsible for producing ID cards in support of former presidential election candidates Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno.
Geindra Deputy Sufmi Dasco Ahmad revealed that the creation of such ID card - called KTP PS - was without the consent of either Prabowo or Sandiaga.
“The KTP PS was made without Prabowo’s knowledge or permission. It was made available as if it was officially from Pak Prabowo himself,” said Dasco in a written statement on Wednesday.
He then reminded the people responsible to ask for permission prior to producing and distributing the rouge ID cards.
“We may act upon the order of Pak Prabowo to take legal actions against them if these types of activities continue,” he said.
The Prabowo-Sandi ID card grabbed the attention of social media users lately. The ID card is said to be produced by a volunteer group which also has its own website named ktpprabowo.id. In it, web administrators called for Prabowo supporters to order the ID cards that are sold from Rp20,000 up to Rp125,000.
A disclaimer in the website mentioned that they have no connection to Gerindra Party or Prabowo Subianto’s BPN team.
Dasco’s warning is a contrast to Gerindra’s initial response to the creation of such ID cards on Wednesday, July 5, which saw the party’s spokesman Andre Rosiade lauding Prabowo’s supporters he deemed as "highly militant."
